The lion, king of beasts, is said to advance three steps, then gather itself to advance again whether attacking a fierce beast or a tiny insect.
There is much we can learn from the lion if we wish to pursue the road to victory in the long run. Sales is the equivalent to full contact sports in that we have to bring out our best at each and every moment. Then, if we are almost fanatically good at preparation, we are sure
to score consistent victories.
There was an article some time ago in a local business journal about the leasing agent who signed the largest lease that year. Her commission for this one transaction was well in excess of seven figures. Put yourself in her shoes for a moment: How would you feel receiving this news? What would you do to celebrate a victory of this magnitude? For what period of time would you be in the state of euphoria caused by such a windfall?
This leasing agent revealed a great deal about what made her such a rock star more by what she didn't do than by what she did following this win. She was the type of professional who apparently understood the age old adage "The seed of defeat is sown at the moment of victory". Case in point: She was in the office the next moring at her usual 7:30 AM.
Don't get me wrong - I'm as up for a good reason to celebrate as the next person. Wallowing in the euphoria of a big victory is another matter altogether however. To use a boxing metaphor, when we are in a rapturous state for extended periods of time or guard is down which is when our competition can rack up big points in the form of contracts.
By being committed to life long learning and self improvement, and in particular if that learning includes a world class mentor with which we can synchronize the gears of our minds, we will be able to consistently refresh our resolve to win. By using world class individuals as our benchmarks, we elevate the core of our lives, not overnight, but over time. And in so doing we can win, win again and continue winning throughout our lives.

Lockerbie Bomber Released ?
I am hard pressed to think a a single more heinous and cowardly crime in my entire life on this earth than that of the Lockerbie Bombing. To take the lives of two hundred seventy innocent men, woman and children shows a demonic view of life on the part of the perpetrator that it is almost impossible to fathom.
Then to view the press conference by the Scottish authority responsible, Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill for the decision to let this man go to his home in Libya to die from the prostate cancer he suffers in so called dignity I find equally difficult to understand. About the only specifics he gave relative to his decision was an obtuse reference to it being the right thing to do that "under our system of justice, mercy be available".
I say with every fiber in my being that, even as a person who's philosophy of life espouses the dignity of all life, to not stand up for justice to those who commit acts such as mass murder is itself a lack of compassion of the highest order. This was a cold calculated act and there were no extenuating circumstances whatsoever; moreover, he had ample time at many points in the long build-up to this crimes execution to walk away.
I wonder what positionMr. MacAskill would have taken had his family been on that flight.
